Chinese citizens sue Florida

Recent legislation bars certain foreign nationals from purchasing property in the state

A group of Chinese citizens residing in Florida have sued the state government to contest a new law which prohibits people from China and other “countries of concern” from owning land, deeming the measure “draconian” and “discriminatory.”

Set to take effect on July 1, the law will prohibit Chinese citizens who do not hold dual US citizenship from buying real estate in Florida, and imposes slightly less harsh restrictions on foreign nationals from Russia, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, and Venezuela, which were all dubbed “countries of concern”…
